Factors Affecting Effectiveness of Work from Home of Employees in Nakhon Pathom Province During the Covid-19 Crisis

Abstract

This research aimed to study the 7 habit factors, work adjustment, attitude towards working from home, change management, job characteristics, technology to support working from home and the effectiveness of working from home, to study types of remote working, advantages, disadvantages, support needs of employee, problems and obstacle, and the need of working from home in the future, to compare the effectiveness of working from home with different personal factors, and , to study factors affecting the effectiveness of working from home. The sample group comprised of 413 employees based in Nakhon Pathom using multi-stage sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, F-test, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research result found that 1. 7 habit factors included work adjustment, attitude towards working from home, change management, job characteristics, technology to support working from home, and the effectiveness of working from home were rated at a high level. 2. Currently working from home was hybrid working pattern between working at home and working at the office. The advantage of working from home was to reduce the risk of spreading and contacting the Covid-19 virus while the disadvantage of working from home was the increasing of expenses such as electricity bills, telephone bills, internet bills. The major problems of working from home was the availability of the internet or a signal connection that required for working. And the working pattern that employee preferred after the Covid situation eased up was a hybrid working pattern. 3. The sample group with different age, marital status, income, and education were affected when working from home was significantly different at  the level of .05. 4. The attitudes towards work from home, habits of synergize, work adjustments, habit of being with the end in mind, change management, technology to support working from home, and habits of prioritizing were the factors that significantly affected the effectiveness of working from home of employees at  level of .05. The 7 independent variables can mutually predict the effectiveness of working from home 75.00 percent (R2 = 0.750).
