Abstract

The objectives of this research were to develop an integrated guidance activities towards  changing in smoking behavior of lower-secondary students; and to study the effects of using this integrated guidance activities towards changing in smoking behavior of the lower-secondary students. The samplings were consisted of 24 lower-secondary school students from the schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 29, Ubon Ratchathani. The 24 persons were derived  from the smoking behavior questionnaire and voluntarily participate in the research. The purposive random technique was used to divide the subjects into two groups; the experimental group and the control group. Each group was consisted of 12 students. This study had 2 phases. The first phase the development of an integrated guidance activities. The second aimed to the study of the effects of an integrated guidance activities. The research instruments included the integrated guidance activities (M=3.93, S.D.=.29) and the Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients of the smoking behavior questionnaire were 0.928. The statistics using for data analysis were mean values, standard deviation, Wilcoxon Matched Pairs Signed-Rank test and The Mann-Whitney U Test. The research results verified by 5 experts. The evaluation of the integrated guidance activities quality reached a high level (M=3.93, S.D.=.29). 2) The results of integrated guidance activities suggested the three findings:  (1)the smoking behavior post-test mean score in overall and individual aspects were lower than pre-test experiment with a statistical significance at the level of .05. (2) The smoking behavior mean score of the post period and follow-up period were different with a statistical significance at the level of .05. (3) The mean score of the experimental group students was lower than the control group students with a statistical significance at the level of .05. The research’s contribution can be applied to inspire the lower-secondary students in changing their smoking behavior.
