Guidelines for the Maintenance of Musical Instruments in the School Orchestra Bands

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to propose a maintenance manual for musical instruments in the orchestra bands. The method of this research included the literature reviews, the surveys, the observations, and the interviews. The population of this research was the schools in the northeast region. The sample group was from 5 schools and selected by purposive selection method consisted of five band director teachers of each school, and 30 musician students which was selected from 5 schools 6 students per school. The data was analyzed using the descriptive statistic. The results found that the maintenance of musical Instruments for student woodwind and brass bands included the post-use care and periodic checking of the musical instruments. This guidelines can be used to teach students on how to properly use, and maintain the musical instruments, which will benefit in the teaching of music in the School Orchestra Bands.
