A Research of Product Development Model for Teachers in Vocational Education Institution by Applying the Empowerment Evaluation

Abstract

     The objectives of this research were to develop a research product development model for teachers in vocational education institutions with application of empowerment evaluation; and to evaluate the results of using the research product development model The research process was divided into two phases. The first phase was the development of a research product development model for teachers in vocational education institutions with application of empowerment evaluation. The research sample consisted of 5 experts on research and evaluation and 193 teachers in vocational education institutions. And regarding try-out results of the developed research product development model   Main results showed that  the developed research product development model for teachers in vocational education institutions with application of empowerment evaluation was composed of four components:  1) the principles of the model which consisted of research competency development, and empowerment evaluation; 2) the objectives of the model which were to enhance research competency, and to increase the number of research studies; 3) the application of empowerment evaluation which comprised the determination of mission, the data collection, and planning for the future; and  4) the quality indicators of the model which consisted of appropriateness of the model, feasibility of the model, correctness of the model, and benefits of the model; as for results of quality verification of the model by the experts, it was found that the developed model was appropriate, feasible, correct, and beneficial; the post-try out knowledge and understanding on research of the teachers was significantly higher than their pre-try out counterpart knowledge and understanding at the .01 level of statistical significance; (2.2) the post-try out attitudes toward research of the teachers were significantly higher than their pre-try out counterpart attitudes at the .01 level of statistical significance; (2.3) the post-try out research conducting skill of the teachers was at the good level; and (2.4) after the try-out, there were 30 research projects being written by the teachers with quality at the good level; and the numbers of teachers who had research writing skill at the very good and good levels were almost similar  Contribution able to use the model to develop teachers in vocational  in stitutions to have research competencies and to be able to conduct research with quality. Benefits  from research is can take the form To be used in the development of teachers in vocational institutions to have research competencies and to be able to complete quality research
