Serial Mediated Effects of Servant Leadership and Knowledge Sharing in Transmitting Emotional Intelligence to Job Effectiveness of Registered Nurses in Bangkok

Abstract

      This research aimed to study serial mediated effects of servant leadership and knowledge sharing as moderating factors influencing emotional intelligence towards job effectiveness of registered nurses in Bangkok. This quantitative study was an exploratory research. Samples in the study were 500 registered nurses in Bangkok by using stratified random samplings with questionnaires as research instrument. The statistical data were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The data analysis was based on the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results also showed that 1) Registered Nurses most female, were single, whose ages were between 20-30 years old; of those whohave worked for 1-3 years; 2) Levels of emotional intelligence, servant leadership, knowledge sharing and job effectiveness of registered nurses were overall averaged at a high level. 3) Emotional intelligence and knowledge sharing influence to job effectiveness. Whereas emotional intelligence and servant leadership indirectly influenced to job effectiveness. Servant leadership directly influenced to knowledge sharing. Whereas emotional intelligence indirectly influenced to knowledge sharing and emotional intelligence directly influenced to servant leadership; 4) Hypothesis’s test showed the result that emotional intelligence influenced toservant leadership and job effectiveness. Whereas servant leadership influenced to knowledge sharing. As following the research hypothesis, knowledge sharing influenced to job effectiveness; and 5) the testing result of the serial mediated influence showed that emotional intelligence and knowledge sharing were considerably serial mediated factors that connect and position emotional intelligence and job effectiveness in a cause-effect relationship. Such relational factors can be observed in the group of Registered Nurse. The overall result of this research ascertained that the servant leadership of the systematic organization could promote knowledge sharing. Meanwhile, the servant leadership and knowledge sharing lead to positive attitude and emotional intelligence that contribute to job effectiveness of registered nurses.
