The Relationship between Perception of Breast Cancer Risk and Breast Cancer Screening Behavior of Women in the Thai-Vietnamese Village, Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research was to study the relationship between perceived breast cancer and breast cancer screening behaviors of women in Thai-Vietnam Village. The sample group included 50 villagers from 213 people, using random sampling method for the selection. The questionnaire was applied as the data collection tool. The author created the questionnaire from the scope of the idea about Common-Sense Model of Self-regulation [CSM] by Leventhal, Meyer, & Nerenz (Leventhal, Meyer, & Nerenz, 1980 as cited in McAndrew, Mora, Quigley, Leventhal & Leventhal, 2014). The used statistics consisted of percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s correlation.
According to the research and the score of knowledge about breast cancer and breast cancer screening. Moreover, it was found that their perception of the sickness relates to the behavior in breast cancer screening of women in Thai-Vietnam Village with statistical significance at .05 (r = .280, p = .049), which can be described that when the women in the village have good perception towards the sickness, it results in the good self-care behavior for the breast cancer screening.
