Relationship Between News and Information Perception Between Health Communication and Healthcare Behaviors of People in Meuang District, Suratthani Province

Abstract

This research aims to study the relationship between perception of information, communication and behavioral health care, and was performed by comparing personal self-care behaviors in Meuang Distrcict, Surat thani Province and the impact of information perceptions on health communication on public health behavior. Questionnaires were used to collect data from 400 samples. The data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, s.d., t-test, f-test and multiple regression analysis. Study results found that most of the sample group were female aged between 20-30 years old, graduated in Bachelor degree level, and married with an average monthly income from 10,001-20,000 baht. Most worked in agricultural profession had no personal diseases, and perceived about the health care news and information from any aspects; overall results were at the regular level. Mostly, they received health communication from family members. Overall results in self-health care were highest and perceived about the obstacles in their self-care were perceived to be at moderate levels. The correlation between personal communication and behavioral health care found that the relationship between personal factors and health communication affecting self-care behavior consists of the following factors: gender, age, marital status, income, occupation and diseases. The only factor not affecting the behavior of health care was education. In terms of perception of health information and perceived barriers of self-care, the test was opposite to the direction found in health care behavior of the people in Meuang District.
