Abstract

The objectives of this study were to explore the perception, opinions and attitudes of users and the general public on Bangkok's bike-sharing project, to compare the perception, opinions and attitudes of users and the general public on Bangkok's public bicycle sharing projects and to get the guidelines for the development of the project. A survey research was conducted and questionnaires were employed to collect data from 200 users and 200 people who live in Bangkok. The results showed that:


  1. The users of bike-sharing used the service for money and time saving, convenience and traffic jam They were aware of the project through bike station, internet and billboards and search for information regarding the project from staff at bike station, website and Facebook page. The level of their perception of the project was moderate while opinions and attitude towards the project were positive.

  2. Most of the public used bicycles for exercising in the park and going to work or shop. They were aware of the bike sharing project via bike station, billboards and the internet. They had positive opinions on the project while the level of their perception and attitudes were moderate.

  3. The perception, opinions and attitudes towards the Bangkok bike-sharing project of users and general public were significantly different at the 0.05 level.

The result also indicated that the development of Bangkok bike-sharing project should consider both service system and project promotion.
