Abstract

This study investigates the relationships between job satisfaction, employee intrapreneurial behaviors, and intrapreneurship at Thai private HEIs. Quantitative cross-sectional study was carried out with 375 lecturers and staff of 2 private universities in Bangkok, Thailand. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test both the direct and indirect relationships between the constructs. Although correlation analysis was largely consistent with expected positive relationships, the structural model indicated a more intricate and counter-intuitive pattern. Job satisfaction reported significant negative relationships with both IT innovativeness and personal initiative while many intrapreneurial behaviors are not statistically significant or significantly negatively related with intrapreneurship. Mediation effects were not supported, with few indirect paths suggesting inconsistent mediation. It is suggested that intrapreneurship from Thai private HEIs works on two lines with each stage being context-bound and competing, not a linear one.
