Development of models for prevention of students at risk of having bullying behavior in Islamic private schools in Yala Province

The objective of this research was to develop models for prevention students at risk of having bullying behavior in Islamic private schools in Yala Province. Data were collected through brainstorming meetings and critique meetings with 14 representatives from each group of class teachers, and of teachers from student welfare, guidance and counselling, and student development departments totaling 70 representatives. Then content analysis was performed on the data using the principles of logic to compare related concepts, theories, and research reports with the context based on grounded theory.
The study found two levels of models for prevention students at risk of having bullying behavior in Islamic private schools in Yala Province: classroom level and school level. The model of classroom level consisted of 5 steps: 1) getting to know students individually, 2) screening the students, 3) correcting risky behaviors, 4) promoting and preventing risky behaviors, and 5) referring the risky group of students to the school level. The model of school level which consisted of 2 steps: 1) Using group study activities (Halakah) on solving the risky behaviors, and 2) referring the risky group of students to external experts. The results of this study would be useful for related individuals and organizations in forming policy for preventing and solving the problem of bullying behavior timely before it becomes more severe and become a social problem that is difficult to solve in the future.
