This research aimed to: 1) analyze the stress management system for inmates under the Department of Corrections, 2) examine the Buddhist-oriented stress management approach and its impact on inmate behavior in prisons, and 3) propose a future vision (in 2025) for Buddhist-based stress management that influences inmate behavior. The study employed qualitative methods including document analysis, interviews, and focus group discussions, with data analyzed using descriptive analysis.
The findings revealed that: 1) the current stress management system of the Department of Corrections consists of three key components: (1) principles emphasizing human rights and international standards for the treatment of inmates, (2) structural elements including education, mental development, short-term vocational training, work skills, and physical fitness (sports), and (3) operational guidelines based on the Department of Corrections Regulation on Inmate Behavioral Development B.E. 2561 (2018). 2) The Buddhist stress management model emphasizes outcome-based curriculum design, including: (1) principles aiming to cultivate learners with intellectual ability, ethical conduct, and understanding of Buddhist doctrine, (2) curriculum components consisting of general education, core courses, and major subjects in Buddhist studies, and (3) implementation methods that involve relevant stakeholders. 3) The future vision for the Buddhist-based stress management curriculum in 2025 focuses on fostering individuals who apply Dhamma principles for self-development and behavioral transformation. The curriculum components include objectives, content, implementation, and evaluation, all of which align with the Department of Corrections Regulation on Behavioral Development (B.E. 2561) and the Ministerial Regulation on the Categorization of Higher Education Institutions (B.E. 2564).
