THE STUDY OF ANALYTICAL THINKING ABILITY ON SURFACE AREA AND VOLUME BY USING THE DESIGN THINKING PROCESS OF EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS
Keywords:
Design thinking process, Analytical thinking ability, surface area and volumeAbstract
The purpose of this research was to study the analytical thinking ability on surface area and volume by using the design thinking process. The target group used in the research was 34 eighth-grade students at a school in Bangkok, during the second semester of the 2024 academic year. The research tools included a lesson plan on surface area and volume using the design thinking process, a test to measure analytical thinking ability, worksheets, and activity sheets on surface area and volume using the design thinking process. Statistics used for data analysis included percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research results found that after receiving learning management utilizing the design thinking process, the eighth-grade students’ analytical thinking ability about surface area and volume was above the 70 percent threshold of full scores. Most students demonstrated analytical thinking abilities at a very good level in all 3 areas, namely content analysis, relationship analysis, and principle analysis.
