DEVELOPMENT OF BAN THI TO SMART CITY

Abstract

This study aims to 1) study the current conditions, problems, and needs in the development of Ban Thi into a smart city; 2) study the factors that promote the development of Ban Thi into a smart city; and 3) present the guidelines for the development of Ban Thi into a smart city. This research was a qualitative research conducted by a group of key informants. A total of 67 people were 1) 20 senior executives in Lamphun Province 2) 20 stakeholders and 3) 27 experts. Data were collected by in-depth interviews. Group discussions and policy meetings. Data collected were analyzed for content.
The findings show that: 1) Regarding the current conditions, Ban Thi, Lamphun Province has potential and is ready to drive the mission towards its goals. However, there are problems with infrastructure, economic and social aspects, and quality of life. The need to develop Banthi into a smart city includes infrastructure development, economic and social promotion, and quality of life development. 2) Factors that promote the development of Ban Thi into a smart city are the participation of the public and stakeholders, people development from knowledge construction, building knowledge and understanding, as well as cultivating a good consciousness for local people to appreciate the value of development. Consequently, they can participate in the development along with the administration in the form of Public-Private to support economic growth and change. Integrating cooperation in all sectors, regulations, and government sectors should be involved in the urban development and spread of the smart city concept over Lamphun Province. 3) The approaches to developing Ban Thi into a smart city consist of firstly developing people, instilling a good consciousness for the people to appreciate the value of development, and implementing urban development to ensure continual development according to the set master plan, which needs continuous and sustainable promotion and development.
