Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics
Journal of Liberal Arts, Ubon Ratchathani University
The editors of the journal use a "double-blinded" peer-review process where neither the authors nor the two reviewers assigned by the journal know each other's identity and name. Manuscripts are reviewed objectively in the context of the reviewer's expertise in the field. Information, pieces of criticism, suggestions, or ideas obtained through peer review are kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Editors recuse themselves from the review process when they have a conflict of interest in the publication.
Personal opinions and perspectives appearing in the manuscripts belong to the author and are not the editorial board’s or the Faculty of Liberal Arts’.
To promote international standards for responsible publications, the publication of a manuscript in a peer-reviewed work is expected to follow standards of ethical behavior for all parties. Authors, editors, and reviewers should thoroughly acquaint themselves with the publication ethics listed below.
Duties of Authors
1. The author must not submit the published paper and do not simultaneously submit the same article to other journals.
2. Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works that are not submitted for publication elsewhere.
3. If the authors have used the works and/or words of others, the works and/or words must be appropriately cited or quoted.
4. The authors writing research articles must follow the template and format of the journal.
5. All authors’ names; the main author’s and corresponding authors’, appearing in the manuscripts must belong to those who have really taken part in writing the manuscripts or conducting the research/study.
6. The authors should acknowledge ideas and previously published results by citing the works in the paper and listing them in the references. The journal reserves the right to use plagiarism detecting software to screen submitted papers at all times.
7. If accepted, the authors agree to transfer copyright to the journal and the manuscripts will not be published elsewhere in any form, without the prior written consent of the editorial board of the Journal of Liberal Arts, Ubon Ratchathani University.
Duties of Editors
- The editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The articles must be relevant to the main themes, scopes, and objectives of the journal. Published articles are evaluated according to the journal’s standard procedures and quality assessment process.
- The editor is guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board, using scholarly reasons without any bias or prejudice. The editor evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, cultural background, or institution of the authors.
- The editor has no conflicts of interest or a personal stake in the publication of research work or article, and must not use the published articles or the journal for commercial or personal professional development purposes.
- The editor must not make any changes or edit any parts of the manuscripts or evaluation form of the reviewers. The editor must not hinder or intervene in any exchanges of communication and information between the author and the reviewers.
- The editor shall apply the journal’s policies relating to its procedures and steps of submitting manuscripts strictly.
Duties of Reviewers
- Reviews should be conducted objectively. Reviewers must be aware of any personal bias or personal criticism they may have. They should express their views clearly with supporting arguments and scholarly reasons without regard to personal interests.
- Reviewers must not seek any advantages from the manuscripts, articles, or research they review and evaluate.
- Reviewers must have suitable expertise in the relevant field.
- Reviewers should be alert to potential ethical issues in the paper and should bring these to the attention of the editor, including any forms of plagiarism, substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which the reviewers have personal knowledge.
- Reviewers must finish reviewing their manuscripts in the assigned time. They must also protect the confidentiality of all material submitted to the journal and all communications with the editor and the journal.
