Abstract

This article is a study of the relations between the Lan Xang Kingdom and Dai Vietnam from 1353-1470 A.D., which analyzes details from the related historical sources invented in four periods: 1) the Pre-colonial Period (pre-1893) 2) The Colonial Era (1894-1954) 3) the Kingdom of Laos Period (1954-1975) 4) People's Democratic Republic Period (post-1975). The study suggests three aspects of the relations between Lan Xang and Dai Vietnam as: kinship, political-economic alliance, and contesting powers.
