Methodology of Serendipity: A Case Study of the Poverty Issue in Amnat Charoen Province Poverty…Serendipity

Abstract

This study aimed to use the ‘Serendipity’ concept to analyze poverty. The author employed qualitative research techniques, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, after-action reviews (AARs), and non-participation observation to gather field data. Additionally, document reviews were done. The ‘Serendipity’ concept is rooted in observations and the use of analytical evidence that led to two discoveries: unpredicted or foreseeable coincidences and intelligence associated with curiosity. Using the ‘Serendipity’ concept to describe field work study on “poverty” and “poverty problems” was not a haphazard discovery because such discovery was based on observation, curiosity, and questioning the poverty and poverty alleviation. I believe that the ‘Serendipity’ concept can be used to scrutinize poverty issues alongside other methods by young sociologists and anthropologists.
