A Study of Cooking Terms in Thai Recipe Book: A Case of Her Ladyship Plain Phassakorawong’s “Mae Krua Hua Pa” Recipe Book

Abstract

This article analyzes Thai cooking terms which were
used in a cook book called “Mae Krua Hua Pa” written by
Her Ladyship Plian Phassakorawong (Bunnag). It is aimed to
investigate Thai consumption wisdoms which are realized
through utilizing these cooking terms in this recipe book. The
findings reveal four types of cooking terms. Those terms are
names of dish, names of cooking equipment, names of
ingredient, and names of cooking method. Those terms reveal
Thai food consumption wisdoms on art of food plating,
ingredient preparation and methods of cooking.
