This research aims to study the further education requirement inPh.D. in Information Science Program at Department of Information Science, Faculty of Informatics, Mahasarakham University.The data were collected during November 2015 – June 2016.The data were collected through online questionnaire completed by 46 respondentswho work as faculty/librarians and information professionals from government and private sector libraries and information institutions. Data analysis were frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation.
The research findings: the majority of respondents completed of Master Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science (LIS) (58.69%). Most of them areunder consideration to pursue Ph.D. in Information Science (43.48%). The respondents were interested in studying the course work (attend the class) and doing a thesis (80.43%). The management aspects of the doctoral degree program organized by MSU that the majority of the respondents desired were to invited outside (foreign) resource persons for teaching at highest level (=4.43). They have highest level to join the program as part-time scholar (having class in the weekend)(=4.39). The respondent anxiety were English language (32.61%). Preferred of recruitment of Ph.D. student were interview and evaluate by their knowledge(=4.30). Most respondents preferred the doctoral degree program organized by MSU to offer the scholarship for doing thesis (=4.67). Moreover, the respondents suggested the interesting research topic such as information management, knowledge management, local wisdom, information behavior, and cultural information.
