Abstract

Sustainable community-based tourism places importance on public participation in the development of local knowledge such as community contexts, traditions, cultures and products for tourism in order to stimulate attractiveness in creating value and economic value of sustainable community-based tourism. Therefore, it is necessary to plan and implement both short-term and long-term activities. Sustainable community-based tourism was offered as an alternative to sustainable development in order to alleviate poverty, lessen the environmental effect of tourism, and promote economic growth. The principles of sustainable community tourism consist of nine factors: 1) being a sustainable practice principle, 2) creating a balance between the community and visitors, 3) facilitating working together, 4) empowering communities, 5) increasing economic benefits, 6) reducing potential negative impacts, 7) adapting to changing situations, 8) measures and assessing impacts, and 9) building flexibility. Therefore, sustainable community-based tourism balances the interests of all the stakeholders.
