Guidelines for the Development of Historical Tourist Attractions in Thep Krasattri Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study the potential of historical sources, to develop guidelines for enhancing historical tourist attractions, and to produce public relations media on historical tourism in Thep Krasattri Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket Province. Questionnaires, interviews, and an assessment of media quality were used as the research instruments. The major findings revealed that historical attractions in the Thep Krasattri Sub-district, Thalang District, Phuket Province included Phra Thong Temple, Thalang Chana Suek Memorial (Kok Burma), Phra Nang Sang Temple, Thao Thep Kasattri Thao Si Sunthon House (House of Lady Chan), Muang Komaraphat Temple, Water Barrier (Nob Nang Dak), and Mae Ma Sie. The potential of historical tourist attractions in general is at a high level ( = 3.67). In relation to guidelines for the development of historical tourist attractions, it was suggested that historical tourist attractions need to be supported by multiple organizations and linked to other attractions. To increase the accessibility of tourist attractions, more place name signs, adequate lighting, and public relations media should be provided. Regarding facilities for tourist attractions, more personnel in charge of promoting tourism activities are needed. It is suggested that the diversity of activities and linkages to various attractions should be increased. A budget is needed to support tourism activities such as enhancing professional skills, developing products and tour guides, community tourism, tourist routes, and setting up the Pho Thong bus as a travel vehicle. To increase awareness, tourist attractions are conserved and perceived as learning centers. Educational institutions should offer students more opportunities to study historical sites. In aspects of creating public relations media based on the experts’ opinions, video media including titles of video media and interesting content were found to have opinions from experts at a high level (
