Parents’ Satisfaction toward Activities to Enhance the Early Childhood Children’s Development Organized by Student Teachers Majoring in Early Childhood Children at the Faculty of Education of Ramkhamhaeng University

Abstract

This research aimed to study and compare the parents’ satisfaction toward activities enhancing the physical, emotion, social and intellectual development of early childhood children, and their readiness for the ASEAN Community: in terms of genders and occupations. The samples were parents of early childhood children enrolled in the first semester of 2014 academic year in 20 schools under the jurisdiction of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The sample size was determined using the Krejcie and Morgan Table and 285 parents were gathered via simple random sampling. The instrument of the study was a Likert-type scale and had an Alpha Coefficient of 0.95. An analysis of data was done using percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance. The findings indicated that, overall, parents were satisfied with the enhancing activities at a high level and, by category, their satisfaction level was also at a high level in each area. These areas were emotional, social, intelligent, ASEAN community readiness, and physical respectively. Male and female parents expressed no difference in their satisfaction toward the enhancing activities. Parents with different occupations expressed no difference in their overall satisfaction toward the enhancing activities. However, the difference was found in the readiness for the ASEAN Community. The results indicated that parents who were civil servants were more satisfied with the enhancing activities in the area of readiness for the ASEAN Community than the parents who were hired-workers.
