The objectives of this research were: 1) to study school leadership characteristics and skills in international education management; 2) to study the needs of school leaders in international education management; and 3) to provide guidelines on the development of international programs in Asian universities. 400 ofschool leaders who are responsible for international education management in Asian universities participated in this study. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and participation in international education management activities. Further, a questionnaire was distributed to school leaders for information concerning characteristics and leadership skills. In addition, key informants were interviewed about international education management to support the coming of ASEAN community. The collected data were analyzed for frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Findings are presented using a descriptive analysis technique. The study found that the overall opinion and the opinion based on each aspect of school leaders according to characteristics and leadership skills in international education management were at a high level. Further, the study also showed that the overall opinion and the opinion based on each aspect of people involved in international education management in terms of characteristics and leadership skills of school leaders were also at a high level. Owing to the needs of individual characteristics and leadership skills of school leaders, the participants need a visionary and transformational school leader with special skills. In terms of the working skills and knowledge, the participants require a leader who can contribute to the writing of academic articles serve as a role model for teachers and educational personnel and can use English for communication and study. In term of experience and success in the work, the participants need a school leader who can apply knowledge and experience from study visits and trainings for a school development.Finally, owing to the need of international education program, it is recommended that more additional bachelor’s degree programs should be provided to serve the needs of students to enroll in international programs at Rajabhat universities. Further, the international curriculum should be developed based on a current situation of the world.
