This article’s purpose was to study the identity of Laplae’s tourism in Uttaradit province concerning to the historical, social, and community contexts. Laplae district is renowned as the second destinations in which tourists should not miss. This ideal is based on these mixed concepts of the creative economy, business of nostalgia, identity, and cultural tourism and they were analyzed under the anthropological research qualitative method. This study revealed that Lablae is the abundant and diverse area that was influenced from its historical and cultural neighborhoods including Siam (SuKhothai), Lanna (Phrae-Nan), and Lanchang (Chai–Ya- Bu- Li - LuangPrabang) that affected the present Laplae’s identity. Also Laplae’s social dynamics has been changing among the world dynamics. Laplae area has been influenced from the different periods, especially the earlier periods of Rattanakosin; consequently, it doesn’t exactly have its own cultural identify which lead to the scramble for this area’s identity establishment by many groups. Different names have been called for this area such as 1) ‘small cultural community’ in the cultural context, 2) ‘local- inhabitant community’ sometimes known as ‘Yuan-Laplae’ or ‘Tai-Yuan of Laplae’, 3) in the historical context, ‘Laplae city’; the administrative district of Uttaradit province which is located in the northern part of Thailand, and 4) finally ‘Laplae city’ is being presented as ‘the ‘cultural tourism city’ comprising of Lanna culture (Tai-Yuan, "or "local inhabitants). These harmoniously reflect the mixed different dimensions of the way of life, the local wise men, the art heritage, and the cultural community in this geography under the practical management in order to achieve the main target of being ‘the cultural tourism community’ and maintaining ‘self-identity’. Consequently, Laplae is one of the unmissed cities in Thailand under the slogan ‘Laplae: the City…You Shouldn’t Miss It’ for tourists who want to have the cultural community experiences responding by the nostalgic atmosphere.
