The Mythology of Spirits

Abstract

The investigation of spirits drinking behavior of people from both occidental and oriental literary works is the important essence of the article. The advantage of spirits can be seen as a tranquillizer in temporarily forgetting sorrowness, arousing mirthful emotion, and a courage. In addition, some famous ascetics consume spirits in order to achieve a transcendental meditation, as well as some famous writers are inspired by drinking spirits during creating their artistic work. These phenomena are able to explain the origin of spirits used in rituals of people all over the world since the primordial time.
