Abstract
Abstract
This research aimed to: 1) examine the needs for developing CEFR-based English language competencies among cadets at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy; 2) compare those needs across year levels; and 3) propose guidelines for developing CEFR-based English language competencies among cadets at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. The sample consisted of 309 cadets. The research instrument was a questionnaire, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation, along with the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified) and One-way ANOVA. The findings were as follows: 1. By skill area, writing ranked first in developmental need (PNImodified = 0.161), followed by speaking (PNImodified = 0.159), listening (PNImodified = 0.110), and reading (PNImodified = 0.095),respectively. 2. Comparisons across year levels revealed no statistically significant differences in the needs for developing CEFR-based English language competencies among cadets 3. Guidelines for developing CEFR-based English competencies should integrate all four skills within a military context and in alignment with international standards. Listening development should focus on accuracy in receiving orders and briefings through multimedia resources to build familiarity with diverse accents. Speaking development should emphasize fluency in situational reporting and operational briefings. Reading development should target main-idea comprehension and military document analysis to enhance information retrieval efficiency. Writing development should focus on drafting accuracy, concise military orders and reports using professional terminology, supported by continuous feedback to foster sustainable development.
