Using Blog-Based Reading Strategies to Enhance English Reading Comprehension

Abstract

         Learning media has played a vital role in teaching from the past to the present because it is a tool that helps communication between teachers and students proceed effectively. In addition, learning media helps students understand the meaning of the lesson content as the teacher wants. No matter what form the media is in, they are all resources that facilitate learning. Weblogs are learning media that promote reading comprehension strategies and develop students' reading skills effectively. This academic article aims to study appropriate and effective reading strategies for learning through blogs. It was found that the reading of seven strategies through blogs presented by the author, there is no single best teaching method. Teachers should consider the learning goals first because, at the end of teaching reading for comprehension in each content, students should be able to understand what they read. Reading through blogs not only helps develop strategic English reading skills but also helps students connect content, develop analytical thinking skills, and participate in the learning process meaningfully. As a result, English reading comprehension skills are developed in depth and sustainability.
