Strategic Leadership of School Administrators in the BANI World

Abstract

            The rapid and uncertain changes occurring today have led the world into the BANI World, characterized by brittle, anxious, nonlinear, and incomprehensible elements. Organizations, particularly in the education sector, are facing unprecedented challenges as a result of these changes, which impact multiple dimensions. Students face the challenge of coping with an uncertain and unstable environment. Consequently, learning in this era requires not only skills beyond academic knowledge but also the development of adaptability and higher-order thinking. Meanwhile, teachers face pressure to transform and adapt their teaching methods in response to technological and societal shifts. Furthermore, the educational system itself must become more flexible, blending traditional and digital learning approaches.

            School administrators, as key leaders in driving educational development, must respond effectively to the rapid changes and complex challenges inherent in the BANI world. Findings from this study indicate that their strategic leadership plays a crucial role in shaping organizational vision, formulating strategies that address uncertainty, and utilizing data-driven decision-making processes. Strategic leadership further involves fostering agile and flexible management approaches, as well as cultivating shared motivation and mutual understanding among teachers and students, thereby strengthening the school’s capacity to navigate rapid and unpredictable changes. Moreover, enhancing digital competencies, restructuring organizational culture toward greater adaptability, and adopting management practices aligned with the BANI context are essential components that contribute to the development of effective, sustainable, and future-ready educational institutions.
