Abstract

The administration of educational institutions toward sustainable development is a concept that emphasizes the integration of sustainable development principles into the management and operation of educational settings. It focuses on developing learners to possess not only academic knowledge but also life skills and a sense of environmental responsibility. Incorporating sustainable development approaches into the teaching and learning process enhances students’ understanding and capacity to solve sustainability-related problems at both community and global levels. This is a crucial factor in preparing individuals who are ready to face future challenges.

This approach also highlights the importance of collaboration among communities, governmental agencies, and the private sector. Establishing supportive networks not only enhances the availability of resources for educational development but also creates opportunities for students to engage directly in solving social and environmental problems. Promoting stakeholder participation empowers educational institutions to serve as central hubs for sustainable development within their communities.

In addition, developing the capacity of teachers and educational personnel in both administrative and instructional dimensions is essential to achieving sustainable development goals. Training and supporting teachers in this area enables schools to produce high-quality learners who will become vital contributors to the country's long-term development. At the same time, school administrators must act as visionary leaders who support learning management aligned with sustainable development objectives and foster an organizational culture that encourages educational innovation. Teachers should function as learning facilitators capable of linking knowledge with learners' contexts and societal needs. Students, in turn, must be nurtured to become responsible global citizens with a spirit of volunteerism and the ability to contribute meaningfully to sustainability efforts at both local and societal levels.

This article aims to synthesize concepts, principles, and strategic approaches to sustainable school administration by analyzing and integrating academic literature, national educational policies, and international frameworks. It proposes a systemic conceptual model linking key SDG targets - particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action)—with curriculum management, human resource development, resource utilization, and the creation of a green organizational culture.

The findings present participatory administrative guidelines involving school leaders, teachers, communities, and partner organizations, emphasizing the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within the curriculum, the professional growth of teachers as learning innovators, and the promotion of a learning-oriented organizational culture. The article provides both policy and practical recommendations that can be applied to drive educational institutions toward achieving the national goals of sustainable development in a concrete and effective manner.
