Developing Music Teaching Methods Using the Concept of Contemplative Education to Enhance the Musical Performance Skills of Second-Year High School Students

Abstract

          The development of music teaching methods using the concept of contemplative education to enhance the musical performance skills of second-year high school students aim to: 1) develop teaching methods in music using the concept of contemplative education to enhance the musical performance skills of second-year high school students. 2) To compare the learning outcomes in musical performance skills of second-year high school students before and after learning through a curriculum using the concept of contemplative education. The study sample consists of 32 second-year high school students from the demonstration school of Rajabhat University Phetchaburi Campus in the academic year 2021, selected through purposive sampling. The research tools include a curriculum for music teaching using the concept of contemplative education, pre- and post-learning assessment tests, satisfaction questionnaires, data analysis using statistics such as percentages, means, standard deviations, and t-test. The findings revealed that: (1) the instructional model demonstrated an effectiveness level of 82.85/82.60, and (2) the post-test scores in musical performance skills were significantly higher than the pre-test scores at the .01 level of statistical significance.
