Suggestions for Creative Art Design Guidelines for the Continuation of the Carpentry Wisdom of Phetchaburi: The Value of Cultural Ways in the Present Time Context

Abstract

            This article presents a guideline for continuation and the process of bringing the value and importance of the wisdom heritage and cultural way of the Phetchaburi carpentry artisans to inspire the development of concepts of the creation of contemporary art and design in the current context by studying the information in the area and from relevant documents or research, and then synthesizing it as knowledge. It was found that Phetchaburi carpentry artisans have great value and significance to the ancient Phetchaburi culture. However, it has not been inherited appropriately according to the context of the time.

            A Study of the Wisdom Heritage and Cultural Way of the Carpenters of Muang Phetchaburi is a holistic knowledge that gathers information related to each other, reflecting the dimensions of ideas, beliefs, relationships between people, and the carpentry artisans. The wisdom and culture of the Phetchaburi carpentry artisans form the foundation for their way of life, including the construction of people's homes, temples, and houses in the past. It is the knowledge that the people of Phetchaburi use to solve problems or livelihoods, making temples and houses maintained the status of Phetchaburi’s culture from the past to the present. The wisdom heritage and cultural way of the carpentry artisans of Phetchaburi to developing the concept of creating contemporary art and design, the researcher presents the knowledge of 3 issues as follows: Knowledge and Learning Process: Theoretical and Universal, Cultural Values: Characteristics and Persistence in the Present Context, Creation for Continuation in the Present Context are: 1) Creativity in the system: to be a guideline for relevant agencies or organizations. There are guidelines for education or learning activities related to intellectual heritage and cultural ways. 2) Outside system creativity: for communication to convey meaning and disseminate knowledge about the creation of contemporary art and design for interested parties and the general public, and 3) self-discretion creativity: to promote learning resources, or a learning center for heritage, wisdom, and cultural ways to honor the knowledge of carpentry artisans, philosophers, villagers, etc. in Phetchaburi.
