GRASSROOTS POLITICAL SCIENCE AND PROGRESSIVE POLITICS

Abstract
This academic article aims to present the knowledge of grassroots political science within the context of progressive politics, focusing on the connection between political activities and the people's quality of life from local to national levels. The study reveals that grassroots political science is not limited to power theories but involves applying knowledge to daily life to foster structural change. Modern citizens are shifting from patron-client systems toward policy-based politics, as evidenced by the "Progressive Politics" phenomenon, which emphasizes accountability and rejects traditional authoritarianism. Furthermore, the article highlights that Thai political foundations are deeply rooted in Buddhist principles, such as the Kūtadanta Sutta, which prioritizes solving the people's economic problems to ensure sustainable peace and stability. The drive for progressive politics is thus a synthesis of modern democratic values and moral integrity, aimed at eliminating political corruption and establishing a truly transparent grassroots political system.
