THE DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVE ART ACTIVITIES SET BY USING LOCAL MATERIALS TO DEVELOP BASIC MATHEMATICAL SKILL FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN

Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to develop and find the efficiency of a creative art activity set by using local materials to develop basic mathematical skills for preschool children, and to compare the basic mathematical skills of the preschool children, before and after the treatment of the creative art activity set by using local materials.
The research and development method was conducted through 4 stages: 1 : studying fundamental data for developing the creative art activity set by using local materials; 2 : developing the creative art activity set by using local materials; 3 : research, trying out the creative art activity set by using local materials; stage 4 : development, improving the creative art activity set by using local materials. The sample 22 kindergarten 1 students, Ban Namjon School, Laokwan District, Kanchanaburi, under Kanchanaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, collected by purposive sampling. The research tools were the creative art activity set and an evaluation scale of basic mathematical skills to collect data which were analyzed in terms of mean, standard deviation, and t-test
The findings : 1) The results of the development of the creative art activity set by using local materials to develop basic mathematical skills for the preschool children came out in lesson plans comprising name of activities, subject matters, learning standard, learning areas, learning objectives, 4 learning activity stages (arousing, leading ideas, creating art, summing up basic mathematical skills), leaning materials, measurement and evaluation; a manual for application of the creative art activity set by using local materials comprising a preface, background and importance, principles and concepts, purposes, structure and duration, materials, teacher’s roles, children’s roles, evaluation, terminology definition, and an activity set. The efficiency of the creative art activity set by using local materials was 4.38, appearing at a high level compared with the evaluation criteria. 2) The comparison of the basic mathematical skills of the preschool children, after the treatment of the creative art activity set by using local materials, showed that the students had higher mathematical skills significantly
