Guidelines for promoting happiness in living a valuable life for the elderly in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mae Pin District, Nakhon Sawan Province

Abstract

This independent study aimed to 1) study the level of happiness in valuable life of the elderly in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, 2) compare the happiness in valuable life of the elderly in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, classified by personal factors and 3) study the guidelines for promoting happiness in valuable life of the elderly in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The research was conducted by combining quantitative and qualitative research. The population and sample were 358 elderly people in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization and 9 key informants. The research tools were questionnaires and interview forms. Data were analyzed using statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and F-test, and descriptive data analysis. The research results found that 1) The overall of happiness level in living a valuable life of the elderly in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization was at a high level. 2) The comparison of personal factors and happiness in living a valuable life in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization found that the elderly with different genders, ages, marital status, education, residence characteristics, and family characteristics had no different opinions on happiness in living a valuable life in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization. Therefore, the hypothesis was rejected. And 3) The guidelines for promoting happiness in valuable elderly life in Mae Poen Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mae Poen District, Nakhon Sawan Province found that guidelines for promoting happiness in valuable elderly life consisted of 1) Determining important mechanisms in local communities to promote the quality of elderly’s life, 2) Developing systems/mechanisms to promote good quality of elderly’s life, 3) Creating appropriate formats for promoting the quality of elderly’s life to be happy by participating people of all ages, emphasizing self-reliance, promoting youth participation, promoting the participation of working-age people, promoting local communities, and promoting the participation of mechanisms in all sectors.
