BEHAVIOR OF WEARING HELMETS OF PEOPLE OF PEOPLE IN SAWZNKHALOK MUNICIPALITY, SAWANKHALOK DISTRICT, SUKHOTAI PROVINCE

Abstract

This independent study aimed to 1) study the level of helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality, 2) study the factors affecting helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality, and 3) study the recommendations for changing helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality. The research was conducted according to the quantitative research methodology using a survey research study. The sample group was 390 people. The research tool was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis using the Enter Method. The research results found that 1) The overall level of helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality, was at a high level. 2) The overall level of factors affecting the helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality, were at a high. From the hypothesis testing, it was found that the factors of perception of safety and risk (X1) and the factors of law enforcement and control measures (X2) had a statistically significant effect on helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality at the .05 level. The prediction equations were created in the form of raw scores and standard scores as follows: raw score prediction = +.175(X1) +.157(X2) and standard score prediction = +.269(Z1) + .372(Z2). And 3.3) The recommendations for changing helmet wearing behavior of people in Sawankhalok Municipality, found that 1) creating awareness of the importance of wearing helmets, focusing on giving importance to oneself and family through various advertising media on the importance of wearing helmets and safety while riding motorcycles, and 3.2) creating activities and projects to develop knowledge of laws applicable to road users that promoted positive attitudes towards wearing helmets.
