DEVELOPMENT OF A MODEL FOR MANAGMENT CULTURAL DIVERSITY IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE PATHUMTHANI PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 1

Abstract

The research aimed to propose a cultural diversity management model for educational institutions under the Pathum Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. A mixed-methods research design was employed, beginning with Phase 1, which collected quantitative data via questionnaires from 326 participants, including administrators, teachers, and parents. This was complemented by Phase 2, which involved in-depth interviews with administrators and teachers to inform the initial drafting of the model. In Phase 3, the model was implemented in a case study school, utilizing behavioral recording, observation, and focus group discussions. Finally, Phase 4 assessed satisfaction and effectiveness through a multi-dimensional evaluation framework.

The research findings revealed that the "Cultural Diversity Management Model" demonstrated positive changes. Teachers adapted lesson plans to integrate multicultural content and established Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to knowledge exchange. Schools enhanced the physical environment with multilingual signage and cultural exhibitions, alongside organizing "International Day" activities. Administrators allocated specific budgets to support multicultural initiatives. While challenges, such as communication barriers with foreign parents and teacher apprehension, were encountered, they were addressed through volunteer translators, the use of visual communication aids, and simulation case study training. The overall evaluation indicated high satisfaction among stakeholders. The study concluded that the developed "Cultural Diversity Management Model" is appropriate and feasible, fostering a learning atmosphere of mutual respect. Recommendations include expanding its implementation to other schools and conducting further studies in different educational contexts.
