THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT OF SANGHA IN NANG KEOW SUB-DISTRICT, PHOTHARAM DISTRICT, RATCHABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to study the level of construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, (2) to compare the construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province by classifying according to personal factors, and (3) to study problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province. The study was the mixed method research between quantitative and qualitative research. In term of quantitative research, it used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 371 people aged 18 years and over who were domiciled in Nang Keow Sub-district, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province. The data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, F-test, one-way analysis of variance. In term of qualitative research, using the documentary analysis and interview as the tools to collect the data in the field study from 9 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique. The research results found that: 1) Level of construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province in overall, it was at a high level. When considering each aspect, it was found that construction and restoration of buildings was at the highest level, the aspect of maintaining and managing the temple's religious properties was at a high level and the aspect of temple development was at a high level. 2) Comparative results of the construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province by classifying according to personal factors, it was found that personal factors namely age, education and occupation had effected the construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province was significantly different level at 0.01, while personal factors namely gender and income had effected the construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province was not different, therefore the research hypothesis was rejected. 3) Problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the construction management of Sangha in Nang Keow Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi Province, it was found that the temple lacked of temple planning, proper construction of permanent objects, lacked of personnel with knowledge in preparing financial accounts of the temple, lacked of advance planning for temple development, lacked of public relations, and lacked of cooperation with agencies, organizations, communities in developing temples in various aspects. As for the suggestions, included that the temple should have a proper temple plan for creating permanent objects, the temple should request cooperation with organizations or agencies that could help provide knowledge and understanding to the monks or personnel responsible for preparing the temple's financial accounts, there should be advance planning for temple development by publicizing and seeking cooperation with agencies, organizations, communities for temple development, and there should be development of monks in the temple to have knowledge in various fields.
