Abstract
This research aimed 1) to study the operation of student care system in schools, 2) to study the method for developing the operation of student care system based on the principle of Four Divine Abodes, and 3) to propose the guideline for the operation of student care system based on the principle of Four Divine Abodes. This research was conducted using mixed methods, consisting of 1) quantitative research using questionnaires with a sample group of 175 school administrators and teachers, data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, 2) qualitative research by interviewing 5 experts and analyzing data by content analysis. The research results showed that 1) the operation of student care system in schools was at the highest level overall and in all aspects, 2) the method for developing the operation of student care system based on the principle of Four Divine Abodes was the operation of 5 aspects of student care system, namely, knowing students individually, student screening, student promotion and development, problem prevention and resolution, and student referral by integrating with the principles of the Four Divine Abodes (1) Mettā, the wish for others to be happy, (2) Karuṇā, the wish for others to be free from suffering, (3) Muditā, the joy when others do well (4) Upekkhā, knowing how to be impartial, and 3) the guidelines for the student care and assistance system based on the principles of the Four Divine Abodes, namely (1) Knowing students individually based on the Four Divine Abodes, consisting of teachers having love and goodwill and having a true intention to help, (2) Screening students based on the Four Divine Abodes, consisting of teachers forgiving and overlooking students' shortcomings and conducting the screening without bias, (3) Promoting and developing students based on the Four Divine Abodes, consisting of teachers promoting students' development in physical, emotional, social and intellectual aspects, (4) Preventing and solving problems based on the Four Divine Abodes, consisting of reducing risks and solving problems that may occur by emphasizing students to have life skills and the ability to solve their own problems and being happy when students could overcome problems, (5) Referring students based on the Four Divine Abodes, consisting of developing the characteristics of teachers to be compassionate, intending to create a referral system for students, and being impartial and unbiased.
