PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY AFFECTING LIFE GOAL SETTING ACCORDING TO THE FOUR IDDHIPĀDA OF STUDENTS IN BENCHAMARAJRANGSARIT SCHOOL, CHACHOENGSAO PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were to 1) study the levels of psychological characteristics; 2) to study the level of social psychology; 3) to study the level of utilization of the Four Iddhipāda in setting life goals, and 4) to study guidelines to promote psychological characteristics, social psychology, and the application of the Four Iddhipāda in setting life goals of students at Benchamarajrangsarit School, Chachoengsao Province. It was a mixed methods research, quantitative research used a questionnaire with 350 students, and data were analyzed by statistical values such as percentage, mean, standard deviation. Qualitative research used in-depth interview with 4 key informants, data were analyzed by content analysis. Results were shown as following: 1) psychological characteristics level overall average was at a moderate level, including belief in one’s own internal power, strength to see the world, and self-worth, respectively, 2) social psychology level overall average was at a moderate level, including family relationships, relationship between teachers and students, and the relationship between friends and friends, respectively, 3) utilization of the Four Iddhipāda in setting life goals level at a high level were the aspect of Chanda and Citta, and the aspect at a moderate level were the aspect of Vima sā and Viriya, 4) guidelines to promote psychological characteristics, social psychology, and the application of the Four Iddhipāda in setting life goals of students at Benchamarajrangsarit School, Chachoengsao Province were (1) teachers should listen and understanding students’ problems deeply, organize activities for students to have the opportunity in expressing themselves socially, (2) teachers should be friendly and building trust, give good and helpful advice. This is a guideline that will make students believe in themselves be strong and have more self-esteem and able to set goals in their life and have the power to achieve their setting goals.
