PALLIATIVE HEALTH CARE FOR THE ELDERLY END OF LIFE IN MUEANG DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this research article are to 1) study palliative health care for the elderly of life in Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and 2) study recommendations, and guidelines for palliative health care for the terminally ill elderly, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. It is a combined method of quantitative research. Data were collected using questionnaires. From a sample of 241 elderly people in the final stage of palliative care, and qualitative research. Data were collected by interview. There were 24 key informants. The research results found that 1) health care Elderly people in the final stages of palliative care, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, overall had an average of results at a moderate level (X=3.09). (S.D.= 0.18) When considering each aspect in order of the average from highest to lowest, it was found that the spiritual aspect It has the highest mean ( = 3.92), (S.D. = 0.33) followed by the mental and emotional aspect ( = 3.66), (S.D. = 0.41) social aspect ( = 3.60), (S.D. = 0.38)organizational aspect ( = 3.00), (S.D. = 0.42) personnel aspect ( = 2.50),(S.D. = 0.29) and physical aspect. has the lowest average ( = 1.81), (S.D. = 0.28) 2) Suggestions and guidelines for palliative health care for the elderly in the final stages 1) Physical aspect: It was found that oral and dental care should be taken care of, pressure sores, and promotion of movement. 2) Mental and emotional aspects, it was found that the elderly should be encouraged. There is relaxation, praying to Buddha, meditating, walking meditation, asking for forgiveness or forgiveness. 3) Social aspect: It was found that one should take care of one's health in order to have access to rights and taking care of health 4) Spiritual aspect or cognition (wisdom) found that there should be access to information and integration of care. Thai traditional medicine and alternative medicine 5) On the organizational side, it was found that there should be network partners for equipment such as oxygen inhalation kits. 6) On the personnel side, it was found that medical personnel and public health officials who have been trained in caring for the health of the elderly should be allocated.
