LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION AFFECTING THE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT IN NAKHON RATCHASIMA PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the leadership level of people's participation and local development in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, 2) to study the leadership and people's participation affecting the local development in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, and 3) to study the guidelines for promoting people's participation and local development in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This was the quantitative and qualitative research. The target population was the people aged 18 years and over, domiciled in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province; the sample group was the 400 people. The research instruments were the questionnaire and the in-depth interview form. The interviewees consisted of 20 people. The data analysis statistics were the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way Analysis of Variance, and multiple regression analysis. The research findings were: 1) the leadership affecting the local development in Nakhon Ratchasima Province found the overall was at high level, the descending mean were the having vision aspect, the having prestige aspect, the stimulating the use of intelligence aspect, the sincere honesty aspect, the empowerment aspect, and the having symbolic aspect, respectively; the people's participation affecting the local development in Nakhon Ratchasima Province found the overall was at high level, the descending mean were the decision participation aspect, the operational participation aspect, the assessment participation aspect, and the benefit participation aspect, respectively; 2) the leadership in the having vision aspect and the sincere honesty aspect, and the people's participation in the decision participation aspect affected the local development in Nakhon Ratchasima province at statistics significance level .05; 3) the research findings found the factors that resulted in the guidelines for the local development in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
