THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MODEL FOR COMMUNITY FOREST CONSERVATION BY APPLYING BUDDHIST PRINCIPLES AND THE 7 PILLARS OF THE MONK AND COMMUNITY AT WAT PHACHATURAPHAKPIMAN IN ROI-ET PROVINCE

Abstract

The research paper consisted of the following objectives: 1) to enhance the competencies of monks and community in conserving and restoring the community forests by applying the Buddhist doctrine and the principle of seven pillars and 2) to promote the conservation and restoration of community forests for ecotourism. This is qualitative research. The target group consisted of monks and Villagers of Chaturaphak Phiman Municipality Community Roi-Et Province, altogether were 50 persons. The research tools were interview, discussion and activity forms. Group data were collected during interviews, observations, group discussions and activity recording. Data analysis from the content analysis and the descriptive method of interview data were analyzed. The results of the research showed that 1) monks and Villagers have been applied such as Faith, Jaga, Utility. Gratitude, Unity, Precepts and Itapaccayata; and the 7 pillars of the concept, namely grouping of people. forest management ecosystem arrangement products obtained from forest conservation participation of people in the community Maintaining a culture that supports forest conservation and the succession or transmission of wood from generation to generation fit together perfectly until able to apply both concepts to design an effective community forest management plan By emphasizing the participation of monks and the community, as well as all relevant agencies. 2) forests of trees are the lung of the community with an important role in conserving the local culture and tradition, as well as enhancing the quality of life of local people. To manage forests sustainably, forests must serve as a source of food, income, employment, community ecotourism, including investment in local areas. The conservation and restoration of community forests of monks and community, therefore, enable forest areas to function as the production and service provider with the support of government agencies and local administrative organizations throughout the period of project
