PATONG FOUNDATION’S RECYCLE BANK PROJECT WASTE MANAGEMENT OF RK GUEST HOUSE IN KATHU PHUKET

Abstract

          The objectives of the study were to: 1) the pattern and methodology of Patong Foundation’s Recycle Bank Project 2) studying and analyze the involvement of a private sector, the RK Guesthouse hotel. The research was conducted by using a qualitative research aspect. An interview technique was chosen as a data - gathering technique. This procedure was performed by interviewing 4 participants who are working directly on the project from the foundation and the RK Guesthouse then the information was analyzed in order to support this research. The results showed that the Garbage Bank project is one of the projects under the Patong Foundation, a non - profit and non - government organization. They have aimed on enhancing the development of Patong area and Phuket in various ways through various activities organized, for instance, by corporated with community leaders, published on trusted local media. From its campaign, people who live in Patong district and surrounding were allowed to recognize its activities. Likewise, after the project was implemented, the project was received many positive feedbacks from other private sectors and people in the Patong district. Some of those participants became main sponsors for the Garbage Bank project. RK Guesthouse was involved in this project by persuasion from Khun Methasit, the hotel marketing manager. RK Guesthouse is a hotel located in Patong, which has been working on waste sorting and recycling before. Therefore, RK Guesthouse was willing to join the project in order to ensure that wastes would be sorted and managed properly.
