STUDY OF THE CAUSES OF PROBLEM AND THE NEEDS OF KNOWING THE REDUCED LIFE TIME OF BEARING

Abstract

            The research article were the qualitative research, aiming to study the causes of problem and the needs of knowing the reduced life time of bearings. The samples used in this research were entrepreneurs, employees who manufacture machinery, lecturers and students in Mechanical Program, totally 9 persons. The research tools were questionnaire and interview form. We conducted the research process by collecting the data from questionnaire and interviewing the sampling group. After that, the collected data were concluded for group discussion in order to exchange ideas systematically with the experts of machinery, and then analyzed for investigating the causes of problem and the needs of knowing the reduced life time of bearing. The statistics used in this research were mean and standard deviation. The research results found that the causes of problem were overall the mismatched installation at high level with mean = 4.31 and standard deviation = 0.72. Besides, the needs of knowing the reduced life time of bearing were overall found in the highest level with mean = 4.63 and standard deviation = 0.62. If the true life time of bearing was known, it could be used in planning of installation and working for preventing smooth surface damage or machinery damage.
