Announcement Regarding the Change to the Article Numbering System (e-Location ID) and the Adjustment of the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) Format

The Journal of Local Governance and Innovation

has a policy to develop its journal management and publication system to meet nationally and internationally recognized academic journal management standards. This is based on the journal quality assessment criteria of the Thai Citation Index (TCI) and the best practices of international academic databases, aiming to systematically, transparently, and verifiably enhance the quality, reliability, and citationability of published articles.

To ensure compliance with these standards, starting in 2026, the journal requires all published articles to use the Article ID (e-Location ID) system instead of sequential page numbering, for the online version of the journal. All articles are required to be registered with a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) under the Crossref system. The Article ID is a unique code for each article and has the format eX.

The journal uses the following DOI prefix:
10.65205/jlgisrru

And the DOI suffix is formatted to match the Article ID system, with the standard DOI display format as follows:
https://doi.org/10.65205/jlgisrru.YYYY.eX

The meaning is as follows:
YYYY = Year of Publication (AD)
e = electronic article (international standard)
X = Article number (using the same number as the Submission ID in the ThaiJo system)

The purpose of using the Article ID (e-Location ID) system is to ensure accurate, clear, and standardized identification of articles, citations, and searches in academic databases across all issues of the journal. This aligns with the practices of academic journals in the digital age and online and open access journals.

Articles published before this format change were announced will continue to use the old DOI format. This system maintains the integrity of Crossref standards and allows for normal referencing without affecting the academic status and value of the article.

This change to the Article ID system for page numbering is part of a development to modernize and streamline the journal management and publication system, aligning with the context of academic journals in the digital age. This will promote academic utilization, international citation, and support the use of articles in consideration for academic positions according to relevant criteria.

Note:
The use of the Article ID (e-Location ID) system instead of sequential page numbers is consistent with online journal publication and is accepted in international academic journals. It also does not conflict with the TCI journal quality assessment criteria.
