The Development of Innovative Thinking Skills based on C-C-T Learning Management Model for Social Studies Student Teachers

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the innovative thinking skills of student teachers developed through the use of the C-C-T learning management model, and 2) study the opinions of student teachers towards the C-C-T learning management model. The population is 48 third-year students majoring in Social Studies who studied in 2 sections. The sample group of 26 students in section AA was selected by simple random sampling using lottery method with the study group as the unit of random sampling. The research instruments were 1. A course syllabus of SOE 3901 Social Studies Curriculum Development course using C-C-T learning management model based on Constructivism (C) Cognitive Coaching (C) and Technology of Learning (T). 2. An innovation thinking skills evaluation form, and 3. A questionnaire on the opinions of student teachers towards the C-C-T learning management model. The data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation (SD).

The results of the research revealed that 1) social studies student teachers had innovative thinking skills at a high level. When considered in each aspect, the context analysis ability was at the highest level, the collaboration with others was at the high level, the creativity ability was at the highest level. The reflection was high, and the achievement evaluation was high. 2) Social Studies student teachers' opinions towards C-C-T learning management model appeared at the highest level. The highest mean was the learning activity could support the students for the systematical planning at the highest level. Most of them highly agreed that the learning activity could enhance students' creativity, and most of them highly agreed that the learning activity could enhance students' participation and expression in learning.
