Erratum, Correction, and Retraction Policy
The Journal of Population and Social Studies (JPSS) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of the scholarly record. This policy outlines the procedures for addressing errors and ethical concerns in published manuscripts. This policy applies to all articles published in JPSS.
Once an article has been formally published (i.e., assigned volume, issue, and page numbers), the original version will not be altered, removed, or replaced under any circumstances, in accordance with TCI requirements. Any amendments will be issued as separate, citable documents that are clearly linked to the original article.
Erratum
An erratum is issued to correct errors introduced by the journal during the editorial or publication process. These errors may affect the interpretation of the article and, where necessary, may undergo additional editorial review or re-evaluation.
Correction (Corrigendum)
A correction is issued to address errors made by the author(s) that do not affect the overall validity or conclusions of the manuscript. These may include typographical errors, inaccuracies in author information, figures, tables, or minor factual details.
Retraction
A retraction is issued when a manuscript is determined to be unreliable or in violation of research or publication ethics. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate publication
- Use of unverifiable or non-existent (“hallucinative”) references
- Ethical violations in research or publication practices
The original article will remain accessible online but will be clearly marked as retracted, with an accompanying retraction notice explaining the reason. All retraction notices will be formally linked to the original article to ensure transparency and traceability.
Procedures
All errata and corrections must be submitted as new manuscripts through the journal’s submission system. These will:
- Be published as separate documents
- Receive their own citation details (including DOI, where applicable)
- Clearly identify and describe the corrected content
- Include explicit linkage to the original article in the metadata
All notices will be indexed and recorded in the journal’s publication system to maintain citation integrity.
Retractions are issued by the editorial team following appropriate investigation. Authors may be asked to provide clarification or supporting documentation before a final decision is made.
JPSS follows best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) to ensure ethical, transparent, and internationally aligned editorial procedures.
