The Journal of Population and Social Studies (JPSS) has evolved significantly since its inception, continuously advancing to meet international standards and promote high-quality research in population and social studies. Key milestones in the journal's development are outlined below:

 

  • 1988: The first issue of JPSS was published, featuring articles in Thai and English with English abstracts in printed format.
  • 2008: JPSS transitioned to publishing articles exclusively in English to broaden its international reach and readership.
  • 2011: The journal was indexed in the Thai-Journal Citation Index Centre (TCI), marking its recognition in the regional academic community.
  • 2014: JPSS became an online-only publication, enhancing its accessibility to a global audience.
  • 2015: The journal gained regional recognition by being indexed in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI).
  • 2016: JPSS was indexed in POPLINE, expanding its visibility in the field of population studies.
  • 2017: The editorial board was restructured to include a more diverse group of international researchers with high H-indices, and the number of issues published annually increased from two to four, reflecting a commitment to more frequent dissemination of research.
  • Late 2017: JPSS achieved additional indexing in Scopus, J-Gate, and EBSCO, establishing its presence as a reputable international academic journal.
  • 2021: The journal transitioned from an issue-based to a continuous publication model, allowing accepted manuscripts to be promptly published online. This change led to an increase in the number of articles published annually from 24 to 40.
  • 2022: The journal further expanded its contribution to scholarly discourse by increasing the number of published articles annually from 40 to 48.
