The Influence of Work Motivation for Enhancing Work Performance and Job Satisfaction of University Staffs in Thailand

Abstract
The objective of this research is to study the influence of work motivation on work performance and job satisfaction and Job Satisfaction of university staffs. The researcher used a questionnaire for collecting 760 respondents of the sample from administrators, lecturers and staffs of Thailand University. Multi regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The research results found that work motivation influenced significantly to job satisfaction meanwhile work performance do not have any significant influence on job satisfaction at F = 59.97, R2 = 0.0324. Additionally, the components of external motivation related to work performance at R = .73, R2 = 0.5329. Besides, the components of external motivation in terms of work group and advancement opportunities influenced significantly in the same direction to work performance at Sig. = 0.01. Furthermore, the components of internal motivation related to work performance at R = .74, R2 = 0.5476. Moreover, the components of internal motivation in terms of self-actualization, affiliation and achievement influenced significantly in the same direction to work performance at Sig. = 0.01. Self-actualization is the most influenced component on work performance. It can be concluded that the administrators of the university should develop staffs’ work motivation to increase the level of work performance through work group, advancement opportunities, salary, supervisor and job content.
