A Study on Readiness and Adaptability of Thai Information Technology for Logistics Companies for Entry ASEAN Economic Community

Abstract
Nowadays, Thai government recognizes to capacity building to logistics businesses, especially, software developers for logistics activities. They are increasingly playing an important role to international trade and investment. Effective logistics software system reduces total costs and also improves the service level, including enhancing national competitiveness to prepare for entry a part of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The objective of this research is to study a capability level of Thai software developers for logistics activities, including assessing their readiness and adaptability to AEC. To do these, survey research and in-depth interview were conducted through 74 and 9 respondents respectively. Data collected was systematically processed and analyzed by SPSS version 14.0.0. The results show that Thai software developing firms for logistics have different less degree of readiness and adjustability to entry AEC. Most of them are SME and have mostly potential adversely effects. It also provides recommendations based on how Thai software developing firms can effectively prepare and respond to AEC entry.
