The Influence of ASEAN Citizenship Characteristics on the Competitive Advantage of the Northern Region Industrial Estate Businesses

Abstract
The purposes of this research were to 1) study the ASEAN citizenship characteristics and the competitive advantage of the international businesses in the Northern region industrial estate; 2) examine the consistency between the structural equation model and empirical evidence; and 3) study the relationship and the influences between ASEAN citizenship characteristics and competitive advantage of the businesses. Population consisted of 90 international businesses involved with import-export located in the Northern Region Industrial Estate. The participants were human resource managers. The research tool was questionnaire assessed reliability as 0.964. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, considering the consistence between the model and fit indices and analysis the structural equation model (SEM) by using AMOS technic. It was found, from the research findings, that 1) the most important ASEAN citizenship characteristics was the unity and good relationship followed by the consciousness conservation of natural resources, environment and culture in the region, and the respect of the difference between individuals and society. Whereas the most important competitive strategy was the cost leadership followed by differentiation, and focus strategy respectively; 2) the structural equation model, ASEAN citizenship characteristics influencing on competitive advantage of the Northern Region Industrial Estate businesses is in harmonious with the fit indices with 2 = 60.652, df = 48, 2/df = 1.264, p-value = 0.104, GFI = 0.882, AGFI = 0.809, RMSEA = 0.064; and 3) all of the ASEAN citizenship characteristics correlate and influence to the competitive advantage of the Northern Region Industrial Estate businesses with the Path Coefficient of 0.69
